rec live to cassette in a tiny, arid, poorly ventilated studio apartment in center city Philadelphia back in 2006 when a studio apartment in center city was still somewhat affordable. back when the danger danger house ruled supreme and the nights were filled with basements of kids defining and celebrating a new form of musical freedom. when noise music was still a silly term but a liberating concept that brought a bunch of kids out of their basements and bedrooms proud to display their own unique form of expression to an open minded and equally excited audience. a time where a community blossomed and thrived in an environment of experimentation and non exclusivity. japknees dreemweal was a short lived live project, and we were instantly embraced and by our second show we were sharing the bill with such soon to be revolutionaries as Dan Deacon and Davey Harms. Its how the priceless friendship with the angelic supermind zen master known as Charles Cohen was formed. We were just two dudes who had a shared love of making sounds, imported beers, paint markers, mind expansion, and above all a ridiculous sense of humor. we never thought of what we were doing as being hip, or acceptable. and it never was taken that seriously.
we played three live shows and this is one of two collections of tape recordings we made.
jean went on to pursue his passion for brewing, and now own his own brewpub in the Philly suburbs , Tired Hands.
If you ever visit there , ask him about Kingus Dingus...
cerebral spasm recordings began to pick up its own little form of speed around this time. resulting in nate going on to start making "august" albums, jean putting out his "antenna - sea creatures" album (now sadly unavailable), and the rest is history.
all tracks improvised meditations on the almighty WHEEL and its conductor, CATBRAIN HAYSTACK
